Michelle Barbera was born
and raised in lovely Worcester,
Massachusetts, pop. 173,000. The best part about Worcester? Lots of free parking. She spent most
of her early education drawing in her notebooks during class.
She graduated from Smith
College with a degree in studio
art and has worked as an illustrator and graphic designer for the past several years. She lives in Boston, Massachusetts, which is a great city, but don't visit between November and April, you'll regret it.
Michelle sketches her art by hand then scans the sketches into the computer and works primarily in Photoshop to bring the pieces to finish.
She uses a pressure sensitive Wacom drawing tablet to produce an airbrush effect in her work.
People often ask if Michelle is related to the late Joseph Barbera of Hannah-Barbera. She's not, but, coincidentally, her aunt did attend high school with him.
Michelle spends her spare time looking for parking spaces, performing, writing, and directing comedy, and collecting jokes. Here's one:
A grasshopper walks into a bar and orders a drink. The bartender says, "We have a drink named after you!" The grasshopper says, "You have a drink named Bob?"
